The Situation

A fire that started on a neighbor's porch damaged two townhome units. Fire, smoke, and water from firefighting affected everything from ceiling to slab. Insurance, inspections, multiple contractors, and material delays had stretched the recovery over about two years.

Approach

With a long, complicated project already behind the homeowners, clear and open communication kept the work moving smoothly. Finish carpentry also means paying attention to how the final space will be used. When a toe kick heating vent landed between two cabinets, I contacted the designer and worked out a solution before moving forward.

Result

Both units came back to life, and the homeowners could finally see the end of a long recovery.
